General Information

Education provides our children with vital information, the content standards, and a knowledge of the world. Education develops in our students a personal perspective of life, encouraging our children to learn, build opinions and share their points of view, while providing necessary basic and advanced skills. Education is not just about the lessons and poems in textbooks. It is about the lessons of life, and the developing ability to achieve greatness.

WHAT IS RTI?

Response To Intervention (RTI) was formed as a result of 2004,A Reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) mandate, that required school districts nationwide to reduce the number of special education placements. RTI was designed to help solve the issue of the overrepresentation of minority students under the classification of Mild Mental Disabilities and/or Behaviorally Emotionally Handicapped.

Based on the successful medical model of public health the RTI Model has three Tiers of Intervention ranging from less intensive (Tier I) to most intensive (Tier III).

RTI ACTION STEPS:
School Districts place their failing students in the most appropriate tier that will meet their specific needs. 80% of students will respond to a less intensive form of intervention and will not go past Tier I. 15% of students will move into Tier II, Targeted Group Intervention. 5% of students will move onto the final Tier. Tier III is an Intensive, Individual Intervention.
