Adult Education Board Meeting to be held on February 13, 2020 from 3pm – 4pm in Loyalton and the SCOE conference room #4. We invite the public to come and see what is happening in the world of Adult Education at the consortium level and have some input for the regional plan.
1. Starting the week of February 3, 2020. SPJUSD / SCOE Adult Education will be offering High School Diploma, GED Prep classes at the Old Pliocene School now called FFA. Classes will go from February 4th through June 11, 2020 and held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm to 8pm. We will also offer a Writer's workshop, beginning February 5th ending March 20, 2020. Classes to be held on Wednesdays from 1pm to 4pm Also beginning the week of February 3rd will be the Landscape Equipment class. This will be a 15 hour course. Days and times will be given at the orientation and registration event on January 21, 2020 from 10am to 1pm at FFA in the cafeteria. 2. On February 13, 2020 from 4pm –5pm Sierra County Schools for Adults will be hosting a community meeting to discuss the possibility of having FRC hold satellite classes in Loyalton on the Adult Ed campus. We would like input from the community as to what class or classes they would like to have held in Loyalton and when we would like them to begin. This is an opportunity for our HS students to be able to participate in Duel enrollment credit courses. Please bring all of your ideas! This is an exciting time and opportunity. 10 Emergency Medical Responders graduated Saturday, November 23rd at Downieville High School. The graduates are now eligible for Nor-Cal EMS Certification and can work as First Responders for medical and trauma emergencies as a part of the Fire Department Rescue Teams. Emergency medical responders are people who are specially trained to provide out-of-hospital care in medical emergencies. Instructors included Frank Lang, NP, Marty Creel, Paramedic and Bette Jo Lang, RN. Teaching Assistants included Shaun Price, AEMT, Leslie Baker, AEMT, and Steve Folsom, AEMT.

Thanks to Laural Colberg and her comrades from the Sierra Valley Grange for presenting an outstanding class on Native Pollinators. Students learned all about Mason Bees and Bumble Bees; the super pollinators who do not make honey and do not sting and are more efficient pollinators than the honey bee. Very fascinating!
